By joining Outsmart, members gain access to a network of like-minded people and a wealth of the latest industry information. We offer a range of memberships to people involved in the Out of Home industry.

Associate member

Anyone who is an Out of Home media owner in the UK can apply for membership.  Associate Membership costs £3,500 (plus VAT) per year.

Resource Member

Companies who offer products and services that cater to the Out of Home industry are able to join Outsmart as a Resource Member. Membership costs £1,500 (plus VAT) per year.

  • A listing on the ‘Who’s Involved’ section of the Outsmart website, which includes contact details, offered services, and direct links to members’ websites
  • Approved use of the Outsmart logo on company literature and website
  • The opportunity to share industry and company news on the Outsmart website

  • All the profile and momentum of the rebranded marketing body, more reflective of the visual, impactful and dynamic nature of the of the Out of Home medium
  • A significantly bigger, more diverse and more experienced team, entirely dedicated to helping advertisers, planners and creatives use Out of Home in bigger and better ways
  • Via Outsmart, closer ties with Route, as well as access to Route’s data
  • Outsmart’s collaboration and communication with all of the Out of Home specialists across a range of topics
  • Outsmart representation, on your behalf, at the following industry bodies: Advertising Association (AA), Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP), Advertising Standards Board of Finance (ASBoF), Institute of Practitioners in Advertising - Outdoor (IPAO)
  • The ability to upload your sites for no charge to SPACE, a central database which manages the allocation of unique industry standard codes to identify individual advertising frames across the UK
  • Receive regular communications from Outsmart including links to coverage in the trade press as well as industry-relevant research and opinion pieces
  • Showcase campaign photography and case studies on Outsmart’s website
  • Input to, and feedback from, regular Outsmart Forums, eg Marketing, Insight, Automation, etc
  • Access to the complete findings of Outsmart’s Effectiveness Project, to be released in 2016
  • Invitation to attend regular (3 per year) updates from Outsmart’s CEO and team
  • An allocation of invitations to all events hosted by Outsmart
  • Access to Out of Home and Other Media Expenditure Data through Nielsen AdDynamix (limited to 25 runs per quarter)

  • Inclusion in all of Outsmart activities, in 2016 set to include major initiatives on: ‘The ROI Fightback’, ‘The Art of the Possible’, ‘Outpower - Why OOH should be on every schedule’, and more

Additional benefits for Resource Members include:

  • Recommended status – when people contact Outsmart to enquire about specific services, we always recommend our Resource Members. In addition, we send a semi-annual list of our Resource Members to all of our member companies as well as the Out of Home specialists

Making your application:

Please return completed applications by post, or email to Jali Henry. After your application is approved, we’ll send you an invoice for your membership subscription.

We expect all companies to abide by Outsmart’s Charter – Standard of Best Practice. Information can be found here

Additional conditions for Associate Members:

In addition to the application form, Associate Membership applicants will need to send us three written business references (either client, media agency or Out of Home specialist) including name, position, company, phone number and a short written reference about your services.

As a part of your membership, we ask for your company’s quarterly revenue. We use this to compile the industry’s total revenue, which is shared with all members as well as the Advertising Association (AA) on a quarterly basis. It is completely confidential; individual company revenues are never released to the AA or other members of Outsmart. The figures should be before deduction of agency commission, but excluding production unless commissionable.

We also make it a condition that no member can be involved in any illegal activity, such as flyposting or advertising on trailers in fields.
