Manchester-based Out of Home (OOH) digital media specialist, Crystal Clear Media, has taken a major step forward in its expansion by acquiring competitor Mass Media. This strategic deal significantly increases the company’s UK coverage and positions it for substantial growth in the coming year.
The acquisition, the first of several planned over the next 12 months, grants Crystal Clear Media direct access to 80 new digital locations. These include prime advertising spots around the M25 corridor, featuring high-profile screens at Wembley Stadium and the London Designer Outlet.
Founded in 2022 with a single large screen on Axis Tower in Manchester, along with screens across the Stockport area and Digi-Vans, Crystal Clear Media has grown rapidly. Spearheaded by owner Adam Griffiths, the company has secured an 8-figure investment fund, to fuel further acquisitions and expansion.
Now operating with an expanded team from new premises at Stanley Green in Stockport and its London base, the company follows a unique business model. Unlike traditional media firms that lease advertising space from third parties, Crystal Clear Media owns the land on which it builds its digital screens. This approach grants the company full control over its assets, allowing it to remain competitive in an industry often constrained by external landlords and operators.
Following the Mass Media acquisition, Adam Griffiths shared his vision:
“OOH advertising reaches 98% of the UK population weekly, with 71% of people regularly engaging with roadside billboards. As digital OOH continues to claim a larger share of media budgets, it offers advertisers unmatched flexibility and impact.
“Acquiring Mass Media marks a major milestone in expanding our digital network. This move will transform Crystal Clear Media’s capabilities, enabling us to offer clients dynamic, nationwide campaign solutions.
“By owning our advertising assets rather than renting, we provide cost stability and flexibility for our clients, avoiding the steep price hikes often imposed by third-party media companies.”
Mass Lambresa, Founder & CEO, Mass Media Outdoor added:
“After eight years of building Mass Media Outdoor without external investment, the timing and opportunity with Crystal Clear Media felt exactly right. I’m very excited about the sale and the new partnership — it marks a powerful new chapter for the business as part of the Crystal Clear Media Group and will allow us to scale in the right way. I’d like to thank our trusted partners who’ve stuck with us throughout the journey and helped us reach this exciting stage. This transition now allows me to focus on what I do best — bringing our existing, ready-to-go sites to life and identifying new locations that align with our shared strategy for incremental reach.”
With this latest acquisition, Crystal Clear Media is well on its way to becoming a dominant force in the UK’s OOH digital advertising market.
Kanjeev Sikka, Managing Director, Mass Media Outdoor commented:
"We are thrilled to join forces with Crystal Clear Media. This acquisition represents a significant milestone in our company's journey and will enable us to take our outdoor media offerings to new heights. With Crystal Clear Media's support, we will be able to invest in cutting-edge technologies, expand our reach, invest in the best people and deliver even more value to our clients and partners.
“Crystal Clear Media’s acquisition will allow us to continue the good work already in play by providing us with the resources we need to thrive in an increasingly competitive market.
“With the iconic Axis Tower in Manchester and Digi vans added to our fantastic portfolio of roadside estate, alongside the further development of our D6 network, I’m really looking forward to meeting up with our client and agency partners to discuss the road ahead.”
