OOH media owner Limited Space has completed the North-East phase of its nationwide digital transformation programme, unveiling new high-resolution, large-format LED screens at Metrocentre and Eldon Square.
The dual installations represent the latest milestone in the company’s 2026 investment strategy, following recent upgrades at flagship destinations Manchester Arndale, Bluewater and Bullring. Together, the developments reinforce Limited Space’s commitment to strengthening its premium retail media portfolio and delivering greater scale, impact and consistency for national advertisers.
Metrocentre, Gateshead - the largest shopping centre in the North-East and one of the UK’s largest overall - spans approximately two million square feet and hosts more than 300 stores. Eldon Square, located in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, is one of the UK’s most established and successful city-centre retail destinations, offering around 1.4 million square feet of retail space and over 150 brands. Collectively, the two destinations attract more than 40 million visits annually, positioning the new screens at the centre of one of the UK’s most dynamic regional retail markets.
The newly installed displays replicate the advanced specification introduced at Manchester Arndale, incorporating next-generation LED technology purpose-built for high-footfall public environments - delivering enhanced brightness, superior colour accuracy and improved motion rendering to ensure campaigns achieve standout visibility in busy retail settings.
They also utilise advanced COB (Chip on Board) LED technology - a robust, impact-resistant format that can safely be touched by the public - combining operational resilience with new creative opportunities for interactive and experiential campaigns.
Designed with energy efficiency and long-term sustainability in mind, these screens enable brands to deliver more immersive, engaging experiences while supporting Limited Space’s commitment to environmentally responsible digital media solutions.
The North-East rollout also extends the premium standards associated with Limited Space’s Orbit portfolio into a key regional market, providing advertisers with seamless access to high-impact, large-format digital environments across major UK shopping destinations. The standardised specification across sites enables greater creative flexibility, improved campaign consistency and simplified multi-location planning for brands and agencies.
Nick Bedford, Co-Managing Director at Limited Space, commented:
“We’re pleased to complete another key phase of our upgrade programme as we continue to elevate the quality and performance of our digital OOH network nationwide. Metrocentre and Eldon Square are cornerstone destinations within our portfolio, and these new installations ensure the North-East benefits from the same premium standards seen across all of our flagship locations.
“This investment not only enhances visual impact for advertisers but also strengthens the long-term resilience and sustainability of our estate. By deploying advanced LED technology across some of the UK’s most visited retail environments, we’re creating a future-ready platform that connects brands with millions of shoppers every week.”
The completion of the Metrocentre and Eldon Square installations marks a significant step in Limited Space’s wider 2026 roadmap, with further large-format LED deployments planned across its retail portfolio in Q1 and throughout the year.
